چکیده

The cytotoxic effects of asbestos are partly mediated by the production of free radicals, including nitric oxide (NO). SV40 has been suggested to synergize with asbestos in the pathogenesis of malignant mesothelioma. Crocidolite asbestos fibers induced in human mesothelial and malignant mesothelioma cells a significant increase of NO synthase activity and expression, which was absent in SV40-infected cells. Furthermore, SV40 infection prevented the NF B activation elicited by crocidolite in both mesothelial and mesothelioma cells. These data suggest that SV40, by inhibiting the synthesis of NO, could favor the survival of transformed, potentially neoplastic cells.

EXPRESSION OF INDUCIBLE NITRIC OXIDE SYNTHASE GENE (iNOS) STIMULATED BY HYDROGEN PEROXIDE IN HUMAN ENDOTHELIAL CELLS

Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene expresses a calcium calmudolin-independent enzyme which can catalyse NO production from L-arginine. The induction of iNOS activity has been demonstrated in a wide variety of cell types under stimulation with cytokines and lipopoly saccharide (LPS). Previous studies indicated that all nitric oxide synthases (NOS) activated in human umbilical vein endot...

Effect of 17-? Estradiol on the Expression of Inducible Nitric oxide Synthase in Parent and Tamoxifen Resistant T47D Breast Cancer Cells

Indirect evidence suggests that estrogen is involved in the etiology of breast cancer. Estrogen is also thought to modulate nitric oxide (NO) in human breast tumor tissue via regulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). Objectives of this study were to determine whether estradiol (E2) affects iNOS expression level in breast cancer cells and to study the effect of various concentrations...

Regulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase expression by viral A238L-mediated inhibition of p65/RelA acetylation and p300 transactivation.

Uncontrolled generation of nitric oxide (NO) by inducible nitric-oxide synthase (iNOS) can cause damage to host cells and inflammation, two undesirable events for virus spreading. African swine fever virus (ASFV) infection regulates iNOS-induced gene expression through the synthesis of the A238L virus protein. We here explored the role of A238L, an NF-kappaB and NFAT inhibitor, in the regulatio...
